UMF®25+ Manuka Honey available again

1 Comment6 October 2008  |  Admin

You will be pleased to know that after an absence of several months, our UMF®25+ Manuka Honey from Comvita is back in stock and available to order or purchase in store.

One of the downsides to be a completely natural product is that it relies on mother nature to produce it - we can't just turn on machines to make another batch. Of the manuka honey produced in New Zealand each year, only a very small portion contains sufficiently high levels of antibacterial properties to qualify for the UMF®25+ label. Hence it is not always available.

However you can now get it, in time for the winter months, from either our online ordering or in our actual store. The UMF25+ is ideal for those of you who have severe digestive problems.

In many cases though, as long as it is a genuine UMF® labelled manuka honey (meaning it has been properly tested for its labelled potency), then in many cases a UMF10+ or UMF20+ may be the appropriate manuka honey for you.

Can eating the rainbow support healthy cognition?

In this blog, Clinical Neuroscientist Miguel Toribio-Mateas discusses the benefits of a diet full of colour for healthy cognition and different brain processes; from memory to reaction time.

Cognition refers to a range of processes relating to the acquisition, storage, manipulation, and retrieval of information by the human brain. It underpins nearly all of our daily activities, in health and disease, across the age span.

Cognition can be separated into multiple distinct functions, dependent on particular areas of the brain or “brain circuits” that work based on a number of natural chemicals known as neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are created by the body using building blocks that come from nutrients, hence the importance of being aware of what foods can act as sources of the necessary active components of the molecules that drive our brain processes.
