A Los Angeles Times article (published on September 10, 2007) reports how a special centre for treating burn wounds in children in Iraq is making use of honey.

The Smith Gate Burn Clinic an hour south of Baghdad is using Medihoney, a unique medical grade honey with natural wound healing properties now produced by Comvita, New Zealand's main manuka honey company.

In the article, Col. Dr. Craig Lambrecht, an emergency physician who was overseeing the burn clinic, comments about the positive results observed from use of the honey, no allergies from its use, and the reduction in infections.
