Campaign For Good Honest Manuka Honey Launched12 June 2007 | Admin In the UK a 'Campaign For Good Honest Manuka Honey' has been launched to help better educate people that not all manuka honey is the same, and what to look for if they are wanting to use it for therapeutic benefits. It is in response to the 'passing off' of inferior or standard manuka honey as having the same therapeutic benefits of properly tested active manuka honey that is being done by some traders. They do this by referring to some of the research that has been done on active manuka honey, even they may be offering a product that does not reach the same standards as that which the research has been based on. The campaign aims to highlight the minimum levels of active properties that are require in order to be given the 'UMF' label. This trademarked label enables consumers to distinguish which honey matches the quality of that used in the research that has lead to manuka honey's fame. It should be looked for on the actual jar, not just in the advertising. 'UMF' stands for Unique Manuka Factor, which is the extra antibacterial properties found in some batches of this New Zealand Honey. More information can be found at World Of NZ.
